New York City -- present day.

Paul arrived six years ago with a suit, three shirts, and a pack of cigarettes.  Citing "war" and "a bad economy" as causes, he says he has found it difficult to find a job, and instead of working he spends his days writing and philosophizing.  "In order to be a writer, I need to have experiences.  In order to have experiences, I need time to live.  I cannot live when I'm working," he says.

And thus, here are the experiences of one talented and provocative metropolitan import -- his days, his nights, his life and loves, the girls (and the boys), the drinks, the conversation, and of course, the poetry.
KYLE SACHS
as PAUL

"People who make clothing often consider themselves artists, but they make art that's designed to be thrown away.  People used to want to make art that would last forever.  We used to have more of an appetite for eternal things.  Now I think we like to dispose of things quickly and not dwell on it all that much -- clothes, people..."

KYLE SACHS reunites with director Mark Thiedeman after starring in the short film "Swimsuit."  He is currently represented by International Creative Management in New York.

MARK THIEDEMAN (Writer / Director) was born in New Orleans and headed north to study film and television at a certain Name Brand University.  His most recent short film, "Swimsuit," screened in New York as part of NewFest 2008, and his writing has been published in the anthology "You Are Here, This Is Now: The Best Young Writers and Artists in America" (Scholastic).  THE SCOUNDREL is  his first feature film.

DAVID BONHOMME (Director of Photography) was raised in Tennessee and now resides in Brooklyn, NY.  He is the creative force behind two feature length films, MOUNTEBANK and REV TO BRAKE, both dealing with his own personal impressions, excavation, and representation.  In his words, he "seeks the root through technology, clutching the ragged dreams of an imagined persona and letting go.  Tally ho, wayward spirit," he says, "finding strength in remembrance shuttered and forgotten."

JAMES MORRISON (Producer) grew up with a great interest in movies, attending local film schools in his home state of Arkansas as early as 12 years old.  He later attended Brooks Institute of Photography and Film in Ventura, CA before moving to New York, where he spent a year working with Vox 3 Films, an independent Manhattan-based production company headed by Andrew Fierberg and Steven Shainberg (Secretary).  He most recently helmed a behind the scenes documentary about the production of director Sally Potter's (Orlando, Yes) new film, and his latest directorial project STAY TRUE, DARLING is currently in pre-production.

JOSHUA GOOLSBY (Producer) is originally from Memphis, Tennessee, and he has been involved as a producer on Mark Thiedeman's prior short film "Swimsuit," as well as James Morrison's "In the Company of Strangers" and the upcoming STAY TRUE, DARLING.  His experiences in the film industry have led him to work with a variety of creative types, ranging from Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) to the local eccentrics at Troma Films.

Additional Crew information coming shortly.
SEAMUS MULCAHY
as JONAH

"I wish I could meet someone who lived overseas -- Europe.  We could write letters to each other.  I think there's something romantic about being alone."

SEAMUS MULCAHY was born in Okinawa, Japan and currently resides in New York City.  He trained at the London Dramatic Academy, where the opportunity to attend Master Classes with the likes of Sir Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi, among others, led to a great love for classical theater and the works of William Shakespeare.  He has appeared in numerous presentations of the Bard's work, most recently starring as the Fool opposite Daniel Davis in a new production of KING LEAR at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey.  THE SCOUNDREL is his first feature film.
MATT BROWN
as RALPH

"If there had been no war, there would be no sexual revolution.  Thank God for War!  Cheers to Vietnam!  God bless America!"

MATT BROWN recently starred in Mark Thiedeman's latest short film "Swimsuit" and has reunited with the director for THE SCOUNDREL.  Additional film work includes a variety of shorts conceived by his local production company After Party Productions (myspace.com/afterpartyproductions).  He is currently represented by International Creative Management in New York.
KATIE HOLLAND
as JOANNA

"He said, 'Sex and love have nothing to do with each other.'  I wish I could be that cold.  I should broaden my horizons.  It's good to try new things."

More information coming soon.
BYRON EUGENE MEYER
as HENRY

"Writers write because they're arrogant enough to think people will actually care what they have to say."

BYRON EUGENE MEYER was raised in Springfield, Missouri, where he cultivated a love of acting over the course of numerous live productions in Branson.  He recently relocated to New York to study acting at Circle in the Square Theatre School.  THE SCOUNDREL is his first feature film.
KATHERINE ROSE VARNO
as JULIANNE

"Feminine on the outside, masculine on the inside.  It'll get you everywhere."

KATHERINE ROSE VARNO studied acting between the ages of eight and eighteen with Dr. Richard Creamer, appearing onstage regularly in numerous original and classical works.  At University, she received her B.F.A in Acting and has since completed intensives at both Circle in the Square and Atlantic Acting School.  Katherine continues her work in the theatre and has been seen in a handful of short films, THE SCOUNDREL marking her first feature.
