HERMAPHRODITUS (2005, 18 minutes)
A free-form adaptation of the Greek myth, "Hermaphroditus" is the story of the son of Aphrodite and Hermes, who was fused at a young age with the body of the nymph Salmacis, leaving him half-male and half-female. Using no dialogue in favor of a series of expressionistic images -- from color to black and white, lush to minimal, modern to classical -- it aims to communicate an age-old narrative without words, instead simply suggesting the story in the manner of a painting.
